INDIA

The best word to describe India is “mosaic.” Hundreds of people groups make up a mosaic of different cultures. Everywhere you go in India, you see a mosaic of colorful clothing. There is a mosaic of rural and urban, agriculture and technology, rich and poor.

India is one of the most spiritual places in the world too. The religious mosaic includes Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Parsis, and Christians. India is also one of the most lost places in the world. There are still 325 people groups with no known evangelical believers and no one engaging them with the Good News of Jesus Christ. Yet God is at work in India! There is much work to do – join us!

CHENNAI

It is the capital city of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Chennai is the fourth most populous metropolitan area and the sixth most populous city of India.

The city is India’s second largest exporter of software, information technology, and information technology-enabled serves. Chennai accounts for 30% of the country’s automotive exports and 40% of the auto components, which leads it to be called as “The Detroit of Asia.”

:::WHAT WE’LL BE DOING:::

We will be partnering with the Hindustran Bible Institute in Chennai to minister to people in a variety of ways:

  • conducting Vacation Bible Schools
  • working with orphans
  • sharing Christ in area schools
  • doing clean-up and light construction projects • street and/or park ministry & evangelism
  • and a variety of other types of ministry as needed

We are also exploring the possibility of going to the Taj Mahal as part of the trip.

:::REQUIREMENTS:::

  • participation in trip fundraisers
  • participation in monthly prep meetings
  • participation in monthly mission projects
  • participation in weekly church and student ministry events (SBS, worship, Collide, and UpLink)
  • personal preparation through daily spiritual disciplines (prayer, Bible study, scripture memorization, etc.)
  • other special requirements that arise in the future as we prepare for the trip
